STEMM

STEMM believes that education is essential to lift individuals from poverty to proficiency. Our annual STEMM scholarships afford education to over 1,000 of the brightest and neediest Tanzanian children. During our mission trips, our team is able meet the students face to face. Hearing the heart felt testimonies of these students proclaiming the “life-changing gift of education”humbles us and challenges us to do more.

Increasingly, STEMM has been called to address the horrific crisis of the orphans of Tanzania. Currently two million children are orphaned and only a small fraction are being cared for in an orphanage setting. These children have no family, no resources, no food, and little if any hope. STEMM currently offers hope by providing food, shelter, clothing, and most importantly love to a multitude of orphaned children.

Tanzania remains one of the poorest countries in the world with healthcare resources out of reach for most of its people. STEMM’s medical teams play a vital role during our semi-annual trips by contributing much needed surgical skills, medical treatment, and educational training to the people of Tanzania. As of 2008, well over 500 life changing orthopedic surgeries have been performed by STEMM medical teams in Tanzania.

STEMM’s inspiration is to serve as a visible witness the love of Jesus Christ by providing for the children of Tanzania. In this process of holding, loving, and caring for these precious children, we experience God’s presence. In this selfless service of others, we truly find that our hearts are changed the most. Our demonstrations of love serve as an incredible testimony in a country where less than one third of the people are Christian.
